Recount writing – A day at the beach!🏖

This week for writing we’re writing recounts.

We were given a topic to write about – The beach. We had to recall a time we’ve been to the beach and write a story about it. Our goal was to add lots of detail and make it interesting. To use WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and WHY. I chose to write about when my friends and I went to Cobden beach for the afternoon. I wrote about how we had a picnic and made a hut out of driftwood.

I liked writing this because it was fun to remember what we did that day and put it into a story. Here’s my writing for you to read:                                                        I hope you like it!

What do you like to do at the beach?🏖

🇳🇱Holland, The Netherlands🇳🇱

My report: Holland,  the Netherlands!

For writing this week, we all had to pick a country anywhere in the world, research it and write a report on it.

We were given a slide to look at with the research questions that we had to write about and answer. Then we got to search Google and the library for information and answers to the questions. We wrote the answers down in our writing books and put them into sentences. Once our teacher was happy with that, we published our work onto our chrome books.

I chose the country Holland, which is one of the four countries that make up the Netherlands,  because I already knew a bit about it, part of my family is from there and I’m learning to speak Dutch. Did you know that orange is the colour of the Dutch Royal House and everyone dresses in orange on King’s Day? Or that Dutch people call themselves “Nederlanders” and a nickname for them is “Kaaskoppen”, which means cheese heads!! I wrote about the Netherlands’ geography, their history, culture and even some tourist attractions. Here’s my report for you to read. I hope you like it!😁🇳🇱😁

I hope you enjoyed reading my report and that you learned a bit about Holland from it. What country would you have chosen? ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

My Maori myth

My Class has been learning about māori myths

We’ve been reading a lot of different myths, the people who became gods and the stories behind them. Then we had to make up our own myth and god. We all chose a different theme for our god, like rainbows or the ocean. I chose the solar system. We drew our gods in our writing books first, then we redid them on A3 card. We went over the drawings with vivid and then water coloured them. After that we made up and wrote the myth behind our god.

Here is what mine looked like:

⚝Astra, goddess of the planets.⚝

I hope you like my myth (:   If you’d had to make up your own māori god, what would he/she be god of?

How to make a jam sandwich!🥪🍓

This week for writing we had to write instructions for making a jam or marmite sandwich.

We first wrote in our books. We had to make sure we included lots of detail.

Then, when we had written  it, we had to publish it on a google drawing and print it out.

When we were done, our teacher brought in the stuff and made all of our sandwiches! Everyone got to eat the sandwich made with our own instructions. It was really funny to watch, because some of them worked but some said stuff like “spread the butter on the bread.” instead of  “Use the knife to scoop out some butter and spread it on the bread.”

Here is my instructions

What do you think? Whats your favourite type of sandwich?🥪🍓😁
