Number of the week again🥑

In maths my group has been doing Number of the week.

Number of the week is a worksheet that has a 3-5 digit number at the top. We have to complete and answer questions like “Is the number odd or even” and “Round to the nearest 100, 1000 and 10000”. The number I got was 19207. My favourite question was when I had to write in tally marks how many tens of thousands, thousands, hundreds, tens and ones were in the number. But I found making a number line and putting 19207 onto it a bit confusing. Here’s what the worksheet looks like: (Sorry the photo’s not very good)

What question would you want to do? 🌻

Converting numbers in maths🐈‍⬛

This week my maths group has been learning to convert decimals, fractions and percentages.

We have to convert a decimal e.g 0.75 into a percentage: 75% and into a fraction: 3/4.

I know that percentages are always out of 100 and that 25 is a quarter of 100. So I know that 1/4 equals 25% and 1/2 equals 50%.                                                                                                                                                                                                     Some of the questions we get are pretty easy like 0.5 = 50% = 1/2. But some of them are harder like 0.05 = 5% = 1/20. I found ones like that tricky.

I enjoy learning about converting because it’s really interesting.

Here are some questions for you to try and answer:

90%=

0.75% =

0.55%=

15/100=

I hope you like my blog post 😁🐈‍⬛

My Maori myth

My Class has been learning about māori myths

We’ve been reading a lot of different myths, the people who became gods and the stories behind them. Then we had to make up our own myth and god. We all chose a different theme for our god, like rainbows or the ocean. I chose the solar system. We drew our gods in our writing books first, then we redid them on A3 card. We went over the drawings with vivid and then water coloured them. After that we made up and wrote the myth behind our god.

Here is what mine looked like:

⚝Astra, goddess of the planets.⚝

I hope you like my myth (:   If you’d had to make up your own māori god, what would he/she be god of?

3 times tables fortune tellers ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

This week for maths we are learning our 3 times tables.

This morning we made fortune tellers to help us remember them. We are trying to memorise 3×1 – 3×12 .                            We were all given two pieces of paper. One with instructions and one with a template.

My little cousins nicknamed fortune tellers pinches, so I call them pinches too.

I enjoyed this task because I like doing origami. I might have changed it to make them more colourful, though.

Here is a photo of my pinchie. What’s your favourite times table?

I hope you like it (:

Number of the week

This week for maths, my group had to complete the number of the week.

Number of the week is a Google slide with questions about a specific number. The number I got was 4284.

The questions were things like “What is 100 more or less” or, “Round to the nearest 1000”

My favourite question was probably when I had to write it in words.

What questions do you think look easy or hard? Do you like maths, too, or another subject? 🥭

Spelling – ie sound

This week for spelling we are practicing the ie sound.

We were given a choice board with four options: Write synonyms for all your spelling words, write them in bubble letters, write each word 10 times, or type them into shapes. We had to pick two options. I chose 10 times and bubble writing. My spelling words are:

Pie, Die, Tie, Died, Lie, Lied, Fried, Magpie, Tried and Spied.

What do you think? What activity sounds fun to you?🥪

Maths word problems

Today for maths we had to complete a slide of word problems.

We had to decide if we needed to use addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. Then, after working it out we had to write down how we did it. I decided to use all different fonts and colours to make it more interesting.

I liked doing this task because the questions were interesting. I didn’t have any idea what a dime or nickel was worth before I did this.

What do you think? What’s your favourite subject?

How to make a jam sandwich!🥪🍓

This week for writing we had to write instructions for making a jam or marmite sandwich.

We first wrote in our books. We had to make sure we included lots of detail.

Then, when we had written  it, we had to publish it on a google drawing and print it out.

When we were done, our teacher brought in the stuff and made all of our sandwiches! Everyone got to eat the sandwich made with our own instructions. It was really funny to watch, because some of them worked but some said stuff like “spread the butter on the bread.” instead of  “Use the knife to scoop out some butter and spread it on the bread.”

Here is my instructions

What do you think? Whats your favourite type of sandwich?🥪🍓😁

Google docs scavenger hunt

Today for cybersmart, we had to complete a scavenger hunt on a google doc.

We had to make it into a checklist and tick off things as we went.

It asked us to do stuff like add the date and change the font, then add a picture

of our favourite animal and explain why we liked the animal.

I liked this task because we got to have fun and choose different options. It was interesting to learn about some new tools, too, like the dictionary tool and the word count tool.

Here is my completed scavenger hunt. (:

I hope you like it! 😁

Decimal word problems📝

Decimal word problems

Decimal word problems maths questions where the numbers have decimal points. like this: 361.42

Word problems are just that same kind of question, only put into sentences. Instead of 487 + 983 it could be Bob has a bag of 487 marbles. Bill gives Bob another 983 marbles. How many does Bob have now?

Our teacher made a slide show of 4 problems for us. We had to work them out in our books and then write the answers on the slide. Then add a photo of the working out.

Here’s the slide

I hope you like it!!😁
